Established in 1886, Saint Stanislaus School has a long history of serving the Slavic Village neighborhood. As the community has changed, so have we. Through the lens of Catholic education, we have high expectations of our students and work with parents and families to guide our students towards success. That success includes sound academic performance, good character, and an awareness that we are all a part of a larger community where our contribution matters. Additionally, our partner across the parking lot, Cleveland Central Catholic, continues the tradition of preparedness for success for students in grades 9 through 12.
From the Principal, Dr. Martin ~Christmas is coming! So much to do; so much to plan. Children are making Christmas lists. The school's tree is up on the first floor. The next three weeks until break will be filled with lots of activities. Preparing for Santa is one thing. Preparing for Jesus' birth? Oh it's not just four weeks of intentional prayer.
We expect Santa to arrive, come down the chimney, bring gifts, and then take off on his sleigh until next year. We anticipate the birth of Christ, even as we know he has been among us since the first resurrection in 33AD. So what are we preparing for if he has been with us all this time? Perhaps it is a renewal of hope that Christ's birth reminds us of. Maybe it is a more focused approach to our daily prayers. It's possible we look to Mary and her journey as a reminder of a mother's steadfast love. Advent allows us the time to prepare our hearts, sweep away the anger and hurts, and bring light into the lives of the people we encounter every day. Advent reminds us that Christ is always here with us, and our job is to honor and respect his presence by greeting the Christmas season with peace and grace. Peace and all good~ |
